Background:
Newmarket Upper School is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 13-18. It is a county co-educational upper school for 660 students aged 13 to 18 serving the town of Newmarket and nearby villages. The school has full use of a large sports centre, opened in 1982, which includes a fitness studio and four squash courts. There are nearly 30 acres of playing fields and an all-weather surface for tennis, netball and five-a-side football. There is a school orchestra and a number of other ensembles and groups. The school aims to provide all students with a secure, well-ordered learning environment.
