Background:
The school was built in the early 1970s on the outskirts of the Suffolk market town of Hadleigh, eight miles from Ipswich and 10 miles from Colchester and Sudbury. It is housed in single-storey buildings and all classrooms are carpeted. The school, which is not over-subscribed, offers a new community sports centre including a fitness room, and spacious grounds with a conservation area, four soccer pitches, two hockey pitches and one rugby pitch. School colours are awarded for achievement in sport or school activities and form captains are appointed from Year 10 pupils, two school captains acting as head boy or girl at public functions. Music includes a swing band and termly music and/or drama productions. There are up to four visits a year to the continent, including exchanges with France and Germany. The school aims to develop his or her academic abilities and practical skills to the fullest extent possible and that his or her development should be signified by the best possible results in examinations.
