Background:
St Mary's CofE Primary was founded in 1968 and is housed in an award winning building on the edge of a 'spacious' recreation area. The school is 'often' over-subscribed and, when this is the case, places are awarded on the basis of a points system where points are allocated according to religious affiliation, place of residence and siblings who are already pupils. School clubs are organised by staff and other volunteers and take place at lunch and after school. They currently include football, netball, music, choir, hand-bells, computers, games, reading environment, hobbies and recorders. The school is part of the church community and the general local community. Classes visit establishments, groups of children entertain local organisations and clubs and other organisations use the school premises for their own purposes. The school is proud of its 'strong Christian ethos and family atmosphere'.
