Background:
Stonham Aspal was founded in 1945, although there have been additions to the original single storey building over the years. The school is set in 'extensive' grounds with a playing field, wildlife area, ponds, a swimming pool and playgrounds. The football team were area champions in 1998 and a range of other sports is available. The school is 'strong' in design technology, for which it won a county award in 1999. Out-of-school activities include recorder, netball, football, cricket and swimming. The school has an active Parent-Teacher Association and also maintains links with local churches. Charity fundraising is an aspect of school life, in particular for children's causes such as NSPCC and Barnado's.
