Background:
Thurleston High School is situated on an attractive 20-acre site on the northwest edge of Ipswich. It was also designated as Specialist Science College. The school has superb facilities for sports activities. From a large sports hall on site as well as a gym to a floodlit all-weather pitch and extensive sports fields. The extra-curricular programme is supported by local clubs; local coaches from Britannia table tennis and from Ipswich rugby club contribute to activities to a great benefit of the school. Pupils from all year-groups are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities ranging from football to trampolining. The school provides an opportunity to all pupils to take part in a variety of sporting activities during the inter-form competitions and to represent the form in athletics events on sports day. The pupils also compete in basketball, cricket, girls' football, boys' football, netball, rounders, rugby, cross-country, athletics and trampolining at inter-school level. The school aims to establish a happy and purposeful atmosphere in the school.
