Background:
Glebeland caters for the surrounding villages of Aldeby, Burgh St Peter, Haddiscoe, Toft Monks and Wheatacre. The original school dates back to 1866, although the present day institution evolved from the amalgamation of two village schools in 1984. The school's has 'extensive' grounds with views over farmland, and its site includes a 'large' playing field, an environmental area, a pond and a hard playground area. The building has been extended and now provides a hall, library area and three classrooms in the main building, as well as two mobile teaching units. The 'broad, balanced and relevant' curriculum is supported by a 'wide variety' of extra-curricular activities. Activities include gardening club, country dancing, recorders, gymnastics, football, kwik-cricket and choir. Glebeland is involved in local community events like dancing at local fetes, choir performances at local churches and 'whole school' tree planting. Charity fundraising has raised money for charities like Childline, British Heart Foundation and the local children's hospice. The school has recently involved the school community to win the 'Healthy Norfolk Schools Award'. A 'very active' parent-teacher association organises several fundraising and social events every year.
