Background:

St Benedict's Catholic School was founded in 1967. St Benedict's is a comprehensive upper school approximately 570 boys and girls aged from 13 to 18 years. Links with local industry are strong, including participation in the Engineering Education scheme and a two week work experience project in year 10. Extra-curricular activities include sport, drama, music and Duke of Edinburgh Award. 'It has a strong tradition of excellence in the arts.' Art is an area of particular pride, with an annual exhibition of pupils work, and the school choir are 'highly regarded'. Student's especially sixth formers are encouraged to be involved in the community via local Youth Fora and community science. The school aims to work in partnership with parents, the Church and society in order to be a community in which young people are well educated and prepared to be effective Christians in the modern world.
